Smelting Characteristics of Silicon Manganese Smelting

The smelting characteristics of the electric furnace are a comprehensive reflection of equipment parameters and smelting process conditions. The parameters and concepts that reflect the melting characteristics of the electric furnace include the diameter of the reaction zone, the insertion depth of the electrode, the operating resistance, the heat distribution coefficient of the electric furnace, the gas permeability of the charge, and the reaction speed of the raw material.

The melting characteristics of electric furnaces often change with changes in external conditions such as raw materials and operations. Among them, some characteristic parameters are fuzzy quantities, and their values are often difficult to measure accurately.

After the optimization of raw material conditions and operating conditions, the characteristics of the electric furnace reflect the reasonableness of the design parameters.

The smelting characteristics of slag smelting (silicon-manganese smelting) mainly include:

(1) The characteristics of the molten pool in the reaction zone, the power distribution characteristics of the three-phase electrodes, the characteristics of the electrode insertion depth, the furnace temperature and the power density characteristics.

(2) The furnace temperature is affected by many factors during the smelting process. Temperature changes alter the chemical balance between the metal slags, making

(3) Alloy composition fluctuates. The fluctuation of element content in the alloy reflects the change of furnace temperature to some extent.

For example: the aluminum content in ferrosilicon is related to the furnace temperature, the higher the furnace temperature, the more the reduced amount of aluminum.

(4) In the process of starting the furnace, the aluminum content of the alloy gradually increases with the increase of the furnace temperature, and the aluminum content of the alloy also stabilizes when the furnace temperature stabilizes.

The fluctuation of silicon content in manganese silicon alloy also reflects the change of furnace door temperature. As the melting point of the slag increases, the superheat of the alloy increases, and the silicon content increases accordingly.
