Rising Costs And Downstream Demand Recovery, Graphite Electrode Prices Continue to Rise

GRAFTECH, the world’s leading graphite electrode manufacturer, expects a 17%-20% increase in graphite electrode prices in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the fourth quarter of last year.

According to the report, the price increase is mainly driven by recent global inflationary pressures, and the cost of graphite electrode will continue to rise in 2022, especially third-party needle coke, energy and freight costs. Another media in the same industry, “more than steel” said that since October 2021, graphite electrode production continues to be limited, the market starts to be insufficient, some specifications of supply is tight, the supply side is good for graphite electrode prices.

Shenwan Hongyuan expects that the price of graphite electrode is expected to rise in 2022, especially in the second quarter of the downstream demand recovery, supply side more negative production, cost continues to rise under the influence of higher certainty.
